During excavations at the Kosel on Tuesday, archeologists discovered a Davidka rocket from 1948, which they quickly learned was intact, containing the explosive material from when it was placed there some sixty years ago.

Police bomb demolition technicians were summoned and they removed the mortar to detonate it under controlled conditions.

The Davidka was taken out of use about the time the state was declared, in 1948.
