Border police earlier this week arrested a suspect who is believed to have been involved in an attack in which an IED was hurled at the Jalame Crossing as he drove on a motorcycle, which was learned to have been stolen.
According to the border police report, the department’s counter-terrorism unit was operating in the area, with some stationed at the Jalame Crossing near Jenin, in the Menashe Brigade.
The motorcycle was stopped for inspection and it was learned the vehicle was stolen from Bnei Brak a year ago. Police also found that he had two masks and a gas canister with him, which they explain is often used to make an IED.
The suspect was taken into custody and the motorcycle impounded after he was tied to the IED attack that took place at the checkpoint, at which time he wore the mask to hide his identity.
The suspect is a 16-year-old Jenin resident and he was turned over to the custody of the ISA (Israel Security Agency/Shin Bet) for questioning.
