Police Continue Probe Into Corruption In Tiveria & Petach Tikvah City Halls


Police on Tuesday are continuing the investigation against suspects who are alleged to be involved in bribery and other law-breaking activities in both Tiveria and Petach Tikvah City Hall following the initial raid at those venues on Monday. Two suspects were taken into custody during the raids, as police confiscated documents from offices.

One of the persons in custody is a former senior official in a local municipality in northern Israel. The second suspect in custody is a resident of a chareidi city in the center of the country.

A spokesperson for the police stated, “During the morning, two additional suspects were taken into custody, one a former public official in a local municipality. The continuing investigation is being handled by the National Fraud Investigations Unit of Lahav 433, [an investigation] that became overt yesterday (Monday) morning, revealing crimes dealing with public corruption”.
