RASHA: Tiveria Mayor Kobi Announces Separate Beach To Open On Shabbos, Free Of Charge

After Tiveria Mayor Ron Kobi failed for a final time to pass a municipal budget, he will be summoned by the Interior Ministry for a hearing, at which time the ministry officials will decide if he continues, or he will be replaced by an interim committee.

Kobi made a final attempt at a city council meeting on Sunday night, and as expected, his proposed budget was defeated by the opposition parties, including the dati leumi and chareidi parties, which voted against it for a fifth time.

During the meeting, he threatened if the budget does not pass, he would open the separate beach on Shabbos. on Monday, he used his Facebook page to make the announcement, that the separate beach will operate on Shabbos, without charge.

  1. Don’t get it. Who does he think will use it? All he is doing is causing chillul Shabbos / spoiling his employees free day off / wasting the money of the city employees who will have to be on duty.

  2. It’s actually a very disingenuous action.
Charedim in Israel are very careful to not take part in an event or go to an institution (i.e. museum, aquarium etc) that is open on Shabbos.
By opening the seperate beach on Shabbos he is causing the Charedim to be “forced” to not use it…

  3. “rasha” is a halachic term that brings with it many consequences, like the assur of looking at them. I don’t know a thing about this guy, but i doubt he meets the qualifications that paroh and bilaam did. And if you think he does, maybe take the pic down to prevent us from being michshol
