Jerusalem: Infant Suffers Chemical Burns In Ramat Eshkol Kindergarten


A one-year-old boy was injured on Tuesday evening, sustaining chemical burns to his face and abdomen. According to reports, the incident occurred in a kindergarten in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of the city.

According to reports from police, Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital and United Hatzalah, the child was conscious and alert at the time of transport. The hospital reported his condition to be moderate upon his arrival. United Hatzalah reported he was burned by oven cleaner.

EMT Moshe Mizrachi reported that he worked with a United Hatzalah paramedic to assess and treat the child, consulting with the poison center in Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. Paramedics transported the boy to the emergency room. Police are investigating the incident.

In an update provided by Hadassah spokesperson Hadar Elboim on Wednesday morning, the child reportedly sustained second and third degree burns to his face, chest and stomach, and is listed in light condition. He remains admitted to a surgical ward for continued follow-up and treatment.
