After A Three-Week Delay, Work On The Light Rail At Malcha Gets Underway

Jerusalem City Hall and the Transportation Ministry are advancing the project for the Jerusalem light rail Green Line.

On Tuesday, August 20, 2019, work on the line in the Malcha area of the capital began, leading to new traffic arrangements on Yitzchak Modai, HaKfir, and Agudas Sport Streets. The work includes moving infrastructure, construction work, development and preparing the light rail route. The work is expected to take a year and a half.

In the initial stage, work will take place on the northern side, on Agudas Sport Street. New traffic arrangements will be in effect towards accommodating the construction. Mayor Moshe Leon and his staff are working towards finding a solution to the lost parking spots. Fifty spots will be allocated for residents in the shopping center parking lot.

Other arrangements are in place as well, including limiting remaining parking spaces to residents only.
