Rosh Hashanah News Roundup From Israel


Close to 300 right-wing activists protested outside of the house of Attorney General Avichai Madelblit in Petach Tikvah on Tuesday night, Motzei Rosh Hashanah. The protest was held in support of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu who is supposed to begin his hearing in case 4,000 on Wednesday morning. Protesters chanted slogans shouting that Bibi is innocent and that Mandelblit and the media are distorting democracy in Israel.

Another violent day took place on Tuesday among Arab-Israelis in the Galilee. In Majd-al Krum two brothers, Khalil and Ahmad Mana’a were shot and killed and another brother was moderately injured in a shooting incident. A fourth person was stabbed and is in critical condition. In the nearby town of Nahf, a man opened fire at the car of the Mayor. The Mayor was uninjured in the incident. Both towns border the Jewish town of Karmiel.

The United Arab list issued a formal request that the security personnel who detained the terrorist who is suspected of killing Rina Schnerb HY”D be investigated as during the operation to detain the terrorist, the suspect sustained injuries.

A 50-year-old man riding an electric bicycle was seriously injured when he was hit by a car on Highway 22 near the Vulcan junction in the north of Haifa.

Two other Haifa residents, both young men, were seriously injured after they were shot during a criminal incident on Allenby Street in Haifa. The incident is being investigated by the police.

A year-old infant was taken to Ziv hospital in Tzefat after he was bitten by a viper in Meron.

An 84-year-old woman drowned and died on Dor Beach near Zichron Yaakov.

A 34-year-old man was seriously injured in a car accident that took place on Highway 889 near the town of Yiftach.

A 50-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were seriously injured and 4 other people were lightly injured in a car accident that took place on the  Begin Highway in Jerusalem just near the Rosmarin junction in the Gilo neighborhood.

A 30-year-old motorcycle rider was killed after he crashed into a pole on Ashlag Street in Haifa.

A 25-year-old man was killed and another young man was seriously injured after they were struck by a heavy pipe in an open construction site in the regional council of Hof Ashkelon.
