MAZEL TOV! Shaare Zedek Hospital Delivers 92 Babies Over Rosh Hashanah


92 children came into the world over Rosh Hashanah in Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Hospitals. 64 were born in Shaare Zedek and an additional 28 babies were born in the hospital’s affiliate in the center of town, Bikur Cholim Hospital.

The first baby born over Yomtov was a boy, and he entered the world at 6:18PM, shortly after candle lighting time on the first day Yomtov. The proud parents are Elmanish and Gadi Yelau from Kochav Yaakov and the baby weighed 3.66kg (8 LBS).

“We received a magnificent gift for Rosh Hashanah. All our children were born in Shaare Zedek and it was a wonderful birthing experience. We would like to thank the midwives and the nurses as the care was amazing”, the parents explained.

Director of the maternity unit, Prof. Sorina Grisaru-Granovsky adds, “We congratulate all of the parents and their families on the magnificent gift received on Rosh Hashanah. We were pleased to provide the mothers with a pleasant and safe experience with the utmost professionalism at Shaare Zedek. Mazel tov to one and all”.

Over 22,000 babies are born at the hospital annually, and the hospital maintains the larges maternity unit in the nation.
