UTJ Decides To Appeal Loss of Eighth Seat in Knesset

Just two weeks after the elections took place, and on the same day that the new Knesset was sworn-in, UTJ has declared that they will appeal the election results, specifically the loss of their 8th seat to the Likud party.

Yesterday, UTJ received the protocols of the problematic polling stations that lead to the eventual transfer of the seat. They hired a team of young girls to go through the protocols and results in order to more accurately understand the problems behind it. The party is expected to hire Attorney Eitan Haberman to represent Yitzchak Pindrus who lost his seat due to the reallocation.

UTJ was missing a mere 68 votes in order to attain Pindrus’ seat. The ballot boxes that were disqualified came mainly from the Arab and Druze sectors. According to numerous analysts, should another vote take place, it is expected that many of the residents in towns such as Yarka, who had their ballot boxes nullified, will support the Likud in order to ensure that the 33rd person on their list, an Ethiopian Israeli MK Shlomo Mula, is elected.
