Who is Fooling Who Regarding New Osem Salad Prices?

The Osem Company has released a new line of its popular Tzabar salads. The trick is that prices appear to be the same, but in fact, while the price has not been increased the containers are smaller.

The previous salads were sold in Israel in 400 gram containers, and now, the new ones only contain 350 grams, a significant difference in quantity, the ‘Interesting Deal’ program affiliated with Israel’s News12 reported on Wednesday night. Osem insists the new product is of a much higher quality so one cannot make a fair comparison.

However, the program concluded that the new salads are actually selling at a 5% increase due to the new sizing of the container. The same appears true with the container of the ‘Mana Chama’ (מנה חמה) dehydrated soups, which are now costing 7% more the program explains.

Osem insists that this only applies to a small insignificant number of products and there was an error in pricing and that the company is continuing its policy of not increasing the prices, as announced it would last year.

  1. What’s the big news about this unfortunately virtually all companies do this. My tissues used to be 200, then 175, then 150, & now 144 qty.
Tropicana OJ used to be 64oz, 59 oz, & now only 52 oz.
