High Court Rejects Petition from Ron Kobi Seeking to Avoid an Interior Ministry Hearing

Score another defeat for Tiveria Mayor Ron Kobi, who petition to the High Court of Justice on Sunday was rejected. Kobi was hoping the High Court would permit him to avoid a hearing with Interior Ministry officials.

Justice Noam Solberg instructed Kobi to appear at the hearing set by the ministry towards determining if he will be ousted from his position after failing repeatedly to pass a budget. The hearing was set for 3:00PM on Sunday, December 15, 2019.

In his ruling, Judge Solberg explained “I considered the reason for the petition, looked at its appendices, but saw no justification for it. This, taking into account the history of the case in question, and given the judgement in the petitioner’s previous petition” rejected it.

Two weeks ago, according to a News10 report, Kobi informed Interior Ministry officials he was not feeling well and therefore, he was unable to attend the hearing. On that morning, he sent a doctor’s note stating he has eleven days off because he is not feeling well. On this Sunday, he tried turning to the High Court, but his petition was rejected.
