Tomer Zevulun, an Israeli man stuck in a rural village in the Hubei province, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak which has been placed under lockdown, obtained a permit to leave the closed-off area with the help of the Israeli embassy in Beijing.

Zevulun, who was in China to study the martial art of Kung Fu, boarded a plane on Wednesday to Kyiv, Ukraine, where he will have to remain in quarantine for 14 days before returning to Israel, the Foreign Ministry stated.

The Foreign Ministry is also trying to assist another Israeli who is in China to study Tai Chai and is stuck in Wuhan, the capital of the Hubei province. Chinese officials have not yet authorized him to leave the area.

There are other Israelis stuck in the area and the ambassador in Beijing and four other Israeli diplomats in China are assisting them as much as possible, including sending them food and protective equipment.

Over 80% of China’s coronavirus patients are in Hubei as well as 95% of its 2,004 deaths.
