In a kol koreh published on Wednesday, addressed to all Rabbanim in Europe, the Conference of European Rabbis (CER) stated that all members of the Jewish community should be vaccinated against COVID-19 without delay.

The kol koreh was signed by the President of the CER, Rav Pinchas Goldschmidt, the Chief Rabbi of Moscow,  as well as by the Chairman of the Standing Committee, Dayan Menachem Gelley, the Av Beis Din in London, and by the Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshivas Toras Chaim in Moscow, Rav Moshe Lebel.

The kol koreh stated: “Since through Chasdei Hashem, the [authorities] have begun to manufacture and distribute vaccines against the coronavirus, which unfortunately has caused many deaths, and ‘the joy of our hearts has ceased’ and we have been unable to frequent our shuls and batei midrashos – ‘ה”ה בית חיינו,’ we herby inform all the members of our community that each person should adhere to the opinion of his doctor and if they say to be inoculated with the vaccines available in their country, they must do so as soon as possible, without delay.”

  1. The title of this article does not accurately reflect its content.

The p’sak apparently stated the following:
“…we her[e]by inform all the members of our community that each person should adhere to the opinion of his doctor and if they say to be inoculated with the vaccines available in their country, they must do so as soon as possible, without delay.”

  2. stated that all members of the Jewish community should be vaccinated against COVID-19 without delay Even on שבת? if that is 1st slot available due to פיקוח נפש of Corona.

  3. ?”I’d just like to know from which volume of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s letters did they get this directive”

What does this have to do with the Rebbe?? It is a common sense directive, consistent with pikuach nefesh, to get vaccinated unless your physician thinks there is reason not to do so. Hopefully the rabboninm in the U.S. and EY will issue similar directives asap.

  4. Pfizer CEO pushing off getting covid vaccine for as long as possible….to be “nice” to others and let them have it 1st. REAL NEWS!

  5. Has the rabbinical world gone insane? Sorry but not sorry.. this is ridiculous
The vaccine is brand new tech, tested for a ridiculously short period of time
Not long enough to find side effects that we have no idea to even look for . For someone in grave danger for coronavirus, might be worth the risk. For everyone else, use your brains. It doesn’t even prevent transmission , so you can still infect others. So don’t try to guilt people into it. According to studies it only REDUCES symptoms in those affected by corona.
