Bnei Brak Mayor Avraham Rubinstein, who himself was attacked by rioters on Sunday, warned on Monday that youths participating in vandalism in the city will be publicly shamed and will be swiftly turned in to the police.

“In no way, will we accept as reality that a group of extremists will riot in the city and sow destruction…and anarchy,” stated Rubinstein on Monday.

“Following a discussion [with the police], we agreed on targeted enforcement to maintain order in the city, including transferring all camera footage from throughout the city – to quickly [identify] rioters in order to restore normal life in the city in the shadow of the coronavirus and the obligation to guard life.”

“We’re announcing that in accordance with the placement of emergency cameras in the city, every incidence of violence documented by the emergency cameras – both visible and hidden – will be publicized, in accordance with the law, and will be swiftly dealt with. This has already been implemented in the past hours.”

  1. Public shaming? Is he serious? The violent protesters don’t care what the public thinks of them. I bet they do care about generating more press coverage, and see it as a positive.

  2. I did not see parents that let their children go loose. the parents sent their children to school, against regulations, Okay but definitely peaceful and safe (according to U.S. CDC, Most doctors, And a lot of Politicians). The police came in and started the violence knowing their was small children involved. they should be arrested for it.

  3. I did not see parents that let their children go loose. the parents sent their children to school, against regulations, Okay but definitely peaceful and safe (according to U.S. CDC, Most doctors, And a lot of Politicians including Governor Andreu Cuomo). The police came in and started the violence knowing their was small children involved. they should be arrested for it.

  4. All Vandals Will Be Publicly Shamed It is another way of saying that he shall be on top of their Shidduch resume, and that of their children; and if anyone somehow gets engaged that he shall immediately be in touch with Mechutonim’s side, but this is too simple to publicize this as being what he means to say.

  5. Those that vandalized were kids that are referred to as Arsim. These are kids that are off the derech and are violent. They threaten people and have vandalized property many times. I could be wrong, but to my knowledge, Rubenstein has not done anything about them until now. Now that he’s been attacked, all of a sudden we have a problem on our hands. Rubenstein, congratulations for finally waking up!!!

  6. They should be banned for life to ever receive any government funds or subsidies. Yeshivos in Israel receive subsidies that covers a sizable portioin of their tuition costs. Kollel families receive various entitlements. These should all exclude these animals who Desecrated the Torah they purport to study. As a taxpayer, I would not want a dime of my taxes to support these mechalelei Hashem.

  7. Public shaming, as others have noted, is both comical and useless as a deterrent. After years of these kinds of riots and abusive behavior, they have yet to undertake mass arrests, trials and for those found guilty, impose long-term prison sentences.

  8. What about the gay parade in Tel Aviv next door to Bnei brak. Why aren’t there protests. Shame those violaters of shabbos and pork eaters. If it’s kids off the Derech doing the protesting, kol hakovad. Let them fight for Torah if they can’t sit all day and learn. We need activist. Keep up the protest. Did not let yeshivas be closed down.

  9. Publicly shamed? Will never happen. Oy vey, think of the shanda! Shidduchim for the entire mishpacha? Cherem for the father, zeida and altere zeida! The rumors… they have… INTERNET!!! Sssh

It’s a huge joke. Nothing will happen to those involved and the violence will continue; if not for this, for any other reason, like a draft dodger/refusnik who just won’t get a patur?? What about the vandals who are trying to destroy the Light Rail in Jerusalem? (sidebar: how many of these “activists” will refuse to use the Light Rail to get to Har Hotzorfim hospital or other places?)

Mayor Rubinstein, stop blowing hot air. If you are serious about stopping this violence in Bnei Braq, you have the authority. Just like you have the authority to shut down these huge weddings. But you won’t because being re-elected is more important than saving lives.

  10. Rats Rats DemocRATs , are you done blaming gays and those that are mechalel shabbos? Let’s compare the secular Jews in those gay parades to these Chareidi/Peleg vandals for a moment. Both skip minyan. Both aren’t properly setting up time for Torah learning in the Bais Medrash. Both engage in Geneiva. Both don’t follow Daas Torah or Rabbonim. I’m seeing a comparable loss of Olam Haba for those in the gay parade and those burning buses, homes, and personal property.
