Preparations Underway for Regev-Goldwasser Exchange Deal

regev gold.jpgFour Lebanese terrorists slated for release on Wednesday with Samir Kuntar have been moved from the Ashmoret Prison to Hadarim Prison, where Kuntar is being held, in preparation for Wednesday’s implementation of the Regev-Goldwasser prisoner exchange deal.

They were transported by members of the Nachshon unit, who will also transport them to Rosh HaNikra on Wednesday, under heavy guard.

Elsewhere in Israel, the bodies and remains of close to 200 terrorists have been exhumed and labeled, and are now in cold storage. The coffins will be driven to the northern border in dozens of UN trucks.

Later this week, President Shimon Peres is expected to pardon Kuntar to permit his release. On Tuesday, following Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s return from France, the cabinet will convene and they will hear briefings from the heads of the Mossad, ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) and army intelligence. They must then decide to approve the deal based on the report submitted to Israel by Hizbullah.

Members of the Arad family are not satisfied and are calling on the government at the very least to compel Hizbullah to turn over other information pertinent to Arad. All agencies have released statements that the Hizbullah document did not furnish any new information. Nonetheless, it does appear the cabinet will approve the Regev-Goldwasser deal.
