While calling for “democracy,” hundreds of anarchists tried to destroy the democratic process by blocking the Knesset entrance on Monday morning in a bid to stop the Knesset’s advancement of the reasonableness bill. A vote to advance the bill began on Monday afternoon.
Police tried to clear the protesters with water cannons but the water streams [no skunk or dyed water that was used against Chareidim] during the current heatwave did nothing to deter them. Additionally, Achim B’Neshek army refusers handcuffed themselves to each other and refused police orders to disperse. The police were forced to physically remove the protesters, which they did with admirable restraint. Dozens were arrested and transferred for questioning.
Fortunately, the coalition had anticipated the issues, and the coalition members, including Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who was released from the hospital on Monday morning, were able to enter the Knesset via an emergency door from the parking lot of the Finance Ministry, escorted by police officers and security guards.

BBC was quick to report about anarchists protests and water cannons, but not a word about 200’000 people protesting in support of the reform in Tel Aviv.
they should use ‘skunk’ water on the protestors like they use on the charadim. really stinks.

A layman’s explanation on reform: they want to remove “מבחן הסבירות״ which is a phrase used in law after the prescribed fine, prison term, liability. There is still מידתיות – which means not extreme – that a liability borne not be crippling financially etc. there’s also the clause צדק, יושר in addition to תום לב and a law forbidding עששית עושר לא במשפט, unlawful enrichment. All agree Aharon Barak went rogue so future judges must be prevented from ruling from their own discretion rather than following the law. SECONDLY, judges are appointed by a Vaad, they aren’t voted in, thus they don’t represent the will of the people. LASTLY, בג״צ judges are almost all relatives… which begs a question… USA judge nominations must be confirmed by Senate and Congress who represent the will of the people (assuming election was legal).
