SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Today, Thursday, is day 107 of the virtual Gaza ceasefire.

*Today is Gilad Shalit’s 830th day in Hamas captivity.

*Egyptian security officials fired at two Sudanese nationals along the Israeli border. Their conditions are not known.

*A closure was placed on the Arab village of Azzoun following massive rock-throwing attacks from the village on motzei Rosh Hashanah resulting in damage to many vehicles.

*Rock-throwing attacks against Jewish motorists were reported on Route 446 near Na’alin on motzei Rosh Hashanah.

*IDF soldiers taking part in counter-terror operations throughout Yehuda and Shomron during the night arrested nine suspects. No injuries were reported.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*Premier-designate Tzipi Livni met over Rosh Hashanah with Shaul Mofaz in what is being described as a secret meeting. Aides to Livni stated they did not discuss ministerial portfolios.

The Jerusalem District Court on Thursday is expected to rule in the petition filed by Aryeh Deri, who wishes to run as a contender in the Jerusalem mayoral race. The state is calling on the court to reject the petition.
