As a reward to Hamas for the October 7 massacre, the so-called “civilized” nations of the UK, Canada and Australia announced the recognition of a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in News on Sunday.

A joint statement issued by the governments of the UK and Australia said, “Effective today, Sunday the 21st of September 2025, the Commonwealth of Australia formally recognizes the independent and sovereign State of Palestine.” It added that the recognition was coordinated with Canada and the UK and reflects “Australia’s longstanding commitment to a two-state solution, which has always been the only path to enduring peace and security for the Israeli and the Palestinian peoples.”

It should be noted that a new poll published by The Telegraph shows a sharp divide between Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and the public, with nearly 90% of Britons opposing his move to recognize a Palestinian state.

A new spirit of unity enveloped Israeli politicians on Erev Rosh Hashanah in response to the announcement, with even left-wing politicians condemning the move.

Even before the official announcement, Democrats (formerly Labor) chairman Yair Golan said that “the recognition of a Palestinian state is destructive and extremely damaging to Israel.”

Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz stated, “Recognition of a Palestinian state after October 7 strengthens Hamas and the entire Iranian axis, prolongs the war, and decreases the chance of returning the hostages.”

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana stated that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is a “modern appeaser who chose disgrace.”

Minister Miki Zohar stated, “The recognition by Canada, Australia, and Britain of a Palestinian state is a meaningless declaration that reeks of antisemitism and hatred of Israel. The only answer to this foolish declaration: the application of Israeli sovereignty in Yehuda and Shomron and the Jordan Valley.”

Minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf stated, “The Land of Israel belongs only to the people of Israel—there is no Palestinian people and no Palestinian state.”

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir declared that he will advance a proposal to apply sovereignty in Yehuda and Shomron at the upcoming government meeting.

The announcement comes as Israel continues its unprecedented persecution of Lomdei Torah, with about 100 bnei yeshivos arrested like common criminals and thrown behind bars, where they will be forced to spend Rosh Hashanah.
