Ayman Abu Khalil, who was released in the Shalit deal, is now serving as Hamas’s terror architect in Yehudah and Shomron, Kan News reported.
Abu Khalil, originally a resident of the Beit Hanina neighborhood in east Jerusalem, was deported to Turkey after his release in the Shalit deal and currently uses Turkish soil as his headquarters to direct attacks in Yehuda and Shomron via local terror cells.
According to the report, he is now considered the most significant figure in Hamas’s military wing abroad.
He is involved in transferring large sums of money for the operation of Hamas’s military wing in the area, as well as smuggling weapons and explosives along with technical know-how from abroad. In recent months, he has increased terror activities in the Ramallah and Chevron areas.
As Hamas terror activities have decreased in Gaza, the terror group has turned its focus to perpetrating terror in Yehudah and Shomron.
