Prime Minister Netanyahu paid a visit Wednesday to the buffer zone in Syria, receiving an operational overview of the tense northern sector and meeting with IDF forces stationed in the area.
According to an official press release, Netanyahu arrived together with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, ISA Director David Zini, National Security Council Acting Director Gil Reich, Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter, Head of IDF Northern Command Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Maj.-Gen. Ghassan Alian, and IDF 210th Division Commander Brig.-Gen. Yair Pelai.
The visit began at an IDF post overlooking the sector, where the prime minister received a detailed situational assessment regarding the ongoing military activity and the broader security challenges posed by Syrian and Iranian-backed elements along the border.
Netanyahu later held a security discussion with senior defense officials before meeting with regular and reserve soldiers deployed in the region. He praised their performance both in the current war and in their ongoing mission to maintain stability along the northern frontier, taking time to answer questions from the troops.
The Prime Minister’s Office stated: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Wednesday, 19 November 2025), visited the buffer zone in Syria… At the start of the visit, the Prime Minister went to an IDF post where he observed the sector, and later held a security discussion. Prime Minister Netanyahu also met with regular and reserve soldiers, praised their activity during the war and in maintaining security in the area, and answered their questions.”
