Cholon Resident in Custody for Threatening Opposition Leader Netanyahu

mishtara3.jpgCholon resident 48-year-old Eliyahu Daniel is in custody after he threatened opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu and his family.

It appears the threats followed Daniel’s inability to arrange a meeting with the opposition leader.

Last Thursday, after failing in his efforts to arrange a meeting with Netanyahu, Daniel phoned Likud headquarters in Tel Aviv a second time and made a threat over the phone. Police were informed and Daniel was taken into custody, only to be released by the court which instructed him to distance himself from the opposition leader.

On Friday, following his release, Daniel was found near Netanyahu’s Jerusalem home, once again requesting a meeting with him. He threatened security agents and was taken into custody again. This time, the court ordered him held over for four days during which time he will undergo psychiatric evaluation.
