The Knesset’s National Security Committee has approved a law to regulate the annual Lag B’Omer hilula at Kever Rashbi at Meron, advancing it for final readings.

The law allows the hilula to take place even during a “special home front situation,” while granting broad authority to the IDF Home Front Command to limit attendance, close areas, or cancel the event if necessary.

New safety measures will be implemented, though no final attendance numbers have yet been set. Current guidelines limit gatherings nationwide, depending on available shelter.

The law also ensures representation for families of the 45 kedoshim who lost their lives in the 2021 Meron tragedy.

Officials emphasized that the goal is to allow a safe and meaningful hilula, even amid ongoing security tensions.
