Netivot: Chareidim Protest Against Local Pub

Chareidim in the southern city of Netivot protested on motzei Shabbos against a local pub, carrying signs decrying the violation of “gilui arayos in the holy city”.

The tens of protestors decried the fact that the city of “holy Tzaddikim” was turning into the “city of pubs”, now an attraction for the young residents of Ashkelon, Sderot and other southern areas.

Some of the protestors blamed the rocket attacks on the gilui arayos in the city.

About one-third of Netivot’s residents classify themselves as chareidi and the chareidi community enjoys a good relationship with the other sectors of the city, including non shomer Shabbos and dati leumi alike.

One of the organizers of the protest, Moshe Mazuz, stressed the event should not be viewed as political but a cry from the heart by the pain brought to his community by the pub and others like it.
