President Donald Trump lashed out publicly at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, saying he was “so pissed off” after an Israeli airstrike on Beirut came within an hour of what was supposed to be the signing of a peace deal between the United States and Iran.

Trump told Axios he was shocked when his advisers called to brief him on the Israeli strike. “It is so bad, I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “An hour before we are supposed to sign the deal.”

“Why did Bibi have to do a [expletive removed] attack?” Trump said. “I was so pissed off. I let him know. He has no [expletive] judgment. I let him know that.”

In a separate interview with Fox News’ Trey Yingst, Trump said he called Netanyahu directly and demanded, “What the [expletive] are you doing?”

Trump acknowledged that Hezbollah had attacked Israel first but stressed the initial attack caused no damage and no casualties.

Trump said the signing of the peace deal with Iran was “delayed” as a result of the Israeli strikes but insisted the deal remains on track. “It shook it up,” he said. “It delayed the signing by a few hours. It was supposed to be now. Now it is scheduled for a few hours from now.”

Earlier Sunday, Trump had taken to Truth Social to publicly condemn the strike. “This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran,” he wrote. “Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process. There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel.”

Trump maintained that the deal with Iran would ultimately benefit Israel, arguing it would prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, require the disposal of nuclear material, and allow snap inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities.
