There was drama at Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport on Tuesday afternoon when a gunshot was heard.
As soon as the single gunshot was heard, bodyguards and ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) agents hurried Quartet Mideast envoy Tony Blair onto his plane. It was soon realized the shot was ‘fired’ by the accidental discharge of a weapon of a member of Blair’s security detail.
The incident occurred shortly before 3:00pm as the senior Quartet official was preparing to board his plane. About four months ago, when visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife were departing from Israel a single shot was heard as well as they prepared to board their flight. It was learned that a border policeman in the outer perimeter, about 200 meters away, took his own life.

this happened again (?) a few months ago when sarkozy flew out of tlv. and they claimed it was an innocent coincidence.

They are clearly different storys. One was suicide, the other an apparent accident. (Unless I misunderstood “took his own life.”)
Is Blair’s personal bodyguard not trained enough not to let off accidental shots???

In May, Israeli fighter jets were scrambled to intercept a jet carrying Mr Blair, after its crew failed to identify themselves.” Noitallmr, it’s not just our ex Prime Ministers bodyguards, his pilot’s also not quite up there.
i guess they forgot that Israel is not under the British Empire any more…
