The name of the deputy director of the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) was revealed on a prominent American news website. The persons name is barred from publication under Israeli law, as are the names of other senior ISA officials. The only name permitted for publication is that of Yuval Diskin, the intelligence organization’s director.

The name of “Yud”, who is in the United States on educational leave, was published in the context of the fact that he is a contender to replace Diskin, who is scheduled to step down in May 2010.

Yud is in his 50s, wears a kippa, and has served as the head of the agency’s Jerusalem district in 2003-2005, and was then appointed as the director of the organization.
