4:51PM IL: [UPDATE BELOW] It is now permitted to announce that a Golani Brigade soldier was R”L killed by terrorist gunfire in Gaza earlier on Sunday. His name and other details are still prohibited for publication.
This is the first fatality suffered by Israel since it launched its massive ground operation on Motzei Shabbos against Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
UPDATE: The Golani Brigade soldier who fell in the fighting in Gaza on Sunday is Dvir Emanueliof HY”D, 22, from Givat Ze’ev. Dvir’s levaya will be held on Sunday night at 11:00PM in the Har Herzl Military Cemetery in Yerushalayim.
In a written statement, the IDF extends its gratitude and condolences to the family of Staff-Sgt. Davir Emmanueloff HY”D, 22, of the Golani infantry brigade. Originially from Givat Ze’ev near Jerusalem, SSgt. Emmanueloff was killed in action by a mortar bomb fired by Hamas terror operatives.
