Arab Parties Challenge Disqualification Ruling

Represented by the Adalah human rights organization, the Ra’am-Ta’al and the Balad National Democratic Assembly Arab parties have petitioned the High Court of Justice in the hope of overturning a decision by the Central Election Committee banning their participation in the upcoming general election.

As was reported HERE by YWN earlier this month, the parties were disqualified due to their unwillingness to recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish State.

The 500-page appeal was submitted on Tuesday in the hope the court will once again overrule the election committee as it has done in the past.

The law dictates that a minimum of a nine-justice panel hear the appeal.
