Hamas Bomb May Have Blown Up Gazan Physician’s Home

The IDF investigation into the fire that killed family members of 55-year-old gynecologist Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, a Gaza physician, is pointing to a Hamas bomb as the culprit, not IDF fire as is alleged by the doctor who lost children and other family members in the incident. (See YWN report HERE).

Investigators report the bomb residue taken from the doctor’s garments and body reveal the substance is not military grade, not used by the IDF but used by Hamas. The doctor remains admitted to Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv along with other family members.

The investigation also learned that a CT of a dead niece of the doctor revealed the bullet fired into her head was from Hamas, not the IDF as he alleges. Military officials report the bullet is not even a type used by the army.

The army is also confirming the tank shell fired “at the home” was actually fired at a structure about a kilometer (6/10 mile) away, and therefore, it is impossible that the tank shell could have struck the doctor’s home as he accuses. Investigators believe the doctor’s home was booby-trapped or contained explosives, adding however the findings are not final as the investigation continues.
