Rav David Abu-Chatzeirah of Nahariya Shlita came out in support of Shas in the upcoming general election for the 18th Knesset. In the chareidi world, the endorsement is seen as a major one, one that will undoubtedly bring additional votes to Shas.
In the meantime, Shas leader Minister Eli Yishai on Tuesday announced his party endorses Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu�s bid for the premiership. Yishai stated that he will recommend that the mandate for forming the next government should be placed in Likud hands.
Regarding some of Netanyahu�s previous mistakes, Yishai assured supporters at an election rally that a strong Shas will be the backbone and watchdog for Netanyahu.
Yishai was quite confident regarding a Likud success in the election, rejecting any attempt to suggest that the chareidi Sephardi party throw its support behind Kadima leader Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
