Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu’s new book on the Israeli economy, “The Israeli Leopard”, published by Yediot Publishing, will not be hitting the streets ahead of Election Day.
According to the daily Haaretz, the book is ready for distribution but the premiership hopeful is opting to leave it in storage until after being elected since some of the content may prove a hurdle in coalition talks and perhaps even turn some voters away.
One example may be his strong opposition to monthly child allowance payments, which is a stark contradiction to recent campaign promises, signaling some flexibility on the issue.
Remaining in the lead in the polls, it is safe to assume Netanyahu prefers to leave the book until he is well-seated in office, with a coalition government. While Haaretz reports thousands of copies are ready for distribution, Netanyahu’s people say it just isn’t so, which is confirmed by Yediot officials, who promise the book will hit the streets as soon as it is printed, bound and ready.
