Convicted Spy Nachum Manbar Seeking Early Release


The appeal of convicted spy Nachum Manbar was heard in the Tel Aviv District Court on Monday. The 62-year-old Manbar is seeking early release, explaining he has paid for his crime and would now like to be released to start a family.

Manbar is serving a 16-year-old prison term for selling information to the enemy. He provided Iran with information pertaining to chemical weaponry. He explains that he is not a threat to the public at large, further explaining he is permitted out on leaves from prison, no less than 80, proving he can be permitted out of prison. He has also expressed remorse for his actions.

Manbar was sentenced to a 16-year sentence in 1998, and has served two-thirds and is now seeking one-third off for good behavior as is customary.
