While his name is not known to many, Chaim Karmon played a vital role in Israel security system for many years, perhaps best known as David Ben-Gurion’s bodyguard.
Karmon died at the age of 85, and is remembered as a leader in Israel’s security establishment as well as the bodyguard of Israel’s first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion. Karmon was a Holocaust survivor, making his way to Palestine in 1946.
According to Defense Ministry Director-General Pinchas Buchris, Karmon played a major role in the security of the nation, moving to Israel following the Shoah, becoming a “backbone of the security establishment”.
