Yitzhar First-Response Team Members Injured by Arab Gunfire

On Friday evening, close to candle lighting time, an estimated 100 Arabs approached Hill 725, taking up position at a field dangerously close to Yishuv Yitzhar in Shomron. The Arabs from the nearby village of Oriff were about 100 meters (yards) from community homes.

The community’s first response team was activated and they began working to distance the Arabs, who represented a significant potential threat. They villagers began fleeing back to their community and gunfire was heard. A number of the first response team members were injured from ricochet gunfire, none seriously.

The army was summoned as well and soldiers entered the village with the intention of restoring order. The soldiers were bombarded with rocks and pelted with all types of objects. They were compelled to use teargas and rubber bullets to bring the incident under control.
