This Time At Toldos Aaron: Once Again, Arab Employee Cannot be Trusted

nara.jpgThis case has a happy ending but it this article could have chas v’sholom been a report of a beating or worse, involving a member of the Toldos Aaron community who was saved from a difficult situation involving an Arab foreman employed by the chassidus.

According to a Chareidim report, last Sunday, Tzvi Michal Heller was summoned to the Toldos Aaron building in Meah Shearim by a report that a truck was parked next to the structure and suspicious activity was taking place, the truck was being loaded at a late night hour.

When Heller arrived after midnight, he found the Arab foreman and his people loading crates from Toldos Aaron into their truck. Spotting Heller, the foreman dragged him into a dark room and placed a knife across his throat, threatening him and instructing him to remain silent.

At a “critical moment” Bentzion Kupershtuk, a large framed individual ‘happened by’ and the foreman was frightened by his presence, and he and his colleagues fled, without physical injury to Heller.

Exhibiting poor judgment, Heller decided to keep the incident quiet, too concerned with his responsibilities to prepare the food for yomtov, opting not to report it to authorities or even within the chassidus.

More amazingly perhaps is the fact that Heller decided he does not have the ability to find Jewish workers to replace the Arab foreman and his team, permitting them to remain on location and continue working to prepare the yomtov, despite the potential threat to others.

  1. That is ridiculous.Cant find Jewish workers or doesn’t want to pay a little more to help a yid get some parnasa?Be cheap and hire arabs. How much is your life worth?

  2. What is your life worth. Pay a few more dollars and hire a jew. I cannot beleive that there are no jews looking for jobs. I do beleive that you can get away with hiring an arab for less, just like here you can hire a black or hispanic for less. What about taking care of our own. Isn’t the highest level of charity to help someone work?

  3. “Exhibiting poor judgment, Heller decided to keep the incident quiet.”
I find the preceding sentence very disturbing. If YWN proclaims itself a news outlet, it should deliver the news without offering an opinion. If the author feels the need to offer his opinion, then at the very least the tile should include editorial.
On another note, I don’t think it is right for you to judge another person’s actions (or non actions). We are taught to judge our fellow favorably. Not only are you not judging the fellow favorably, you are precluding your readers from judging him favorably by telling us he has poor judgment.

  4. Heller you have erred big time….. Get rid of the Arab as commanded by Reb Chaim K. of Bnei Brak, these are murderous, immoral, no diginity for life people, why wait to report after the tragedy?

  5. maybe if we were in his stuation we would do the same,

but as an outsider without personal “negious” i will say the following, that if this Arab ends up using his knife on someone, then the real murderer will be Heller and not anyone else.

food or no food, cleanliness on no cleanliness, you dont leave an murderer hanging out in your own backyard.

    Lo Sasim Damim Beveitecha

(just for the records, other cleaners and cooks can be found, it is all an issue of money only!! but what is the value of a jewish life??!!!! is it worth the money????!!!! or is it better to have the vaad harabonim make a Keren for a father of 14 kids that tragically lost his life to a murderous arab terrorist??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  6. QUESTION: If according to the article “Heller decided to keep the incident quiet” how then did YWN find out about this? from the ARAB forman himself???

  7. Please YW Editors,
Have some common sense and change the title and image.
What would you say if a goyshe newspaper story would have the title “Once Again, A Jew is caught stealing money”.
I’m no arab lover, but these types of generalizations show a lack of seichel and are a chillul Hashem.
Regarding the image, one could easily argue that not employing arabs will only contribute to their poverty, and indirectly, to an increase of terrorism. There is a direct correlation between poverty and radicalism in the arab world, and keeping them unemployed is no solution to terrorism.

  8. Opted not to report the incident?? What was he thinking? And permitted them to remain on location?? Definitely not thinking! Sorry to speak of him this way, but it really was poor judgement. Were the workers there at the time of the Simchas Beis HaShoeva Monday night? Thousands of people were there!! (including my daughter)
Hashem defintely had His watchful eye there just as He has everywhere at every moment. Baruch Hashem nothing happened!!!!!!!

  9. This may not be popular, but…a man claims that a worker stole things and threatens his life. He DOESN’T report this to the police and he DOESN’T fire the worker. When my father worked on 47th St. they had a name for this: faked robbery. The story makes no sense. If it’s true, the man is a fool. If he made it up, he’s a thief. If the whole thing is fake? The news reporter is the fool for believing such a way out story.

  10. 310, you are the one with no common sense. You ask what we would say if the characters changed; that is a stupid question, because WE ARE NOT THE SAME. It’s like asking how we would feel about prisons if the people inside were honest citizens and the people outside were criminals; they’re not, and they’re not interchangeable. Arabs ARE dangerous, Jews are not. And if you think poverty causes terrorism you’re living on a different planet.

  11. where are the video cameras?

    (besides hashem’s eyes, per proudmom3)

every shul in the world MUST have video cameras. (the real ones that work, not the fake ones.)
