The office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday echoed the United States and other Western nations in condemning Israel�s planned construction of 900 housing units in the southern capital, in the Gilo neighborhood.
Spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm told reporters at a regularly scheduled media conference that Germany �greatly regrets� the move, calling it a �major stumbling block to peace efforts�.
The announcement has set the tone for next week�s state visit to Berlin by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and other government officials.
Not waiting to hear details of a deal, Minister of Religious Services (Shas) Yaakov Margi announced that he will support a deal, blindly, since he trusts the leaders responsible for making such decisions.
