Treif Meat Confiscated at Kalandia Checkpoint

Authorities confiscated four tons of treif meat originating in PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous areas at the Kalandia Checkpoint, on Jerusalem’s northern border. The meat was intended for sale inside Green Line Israel. The meat was carried in two trucks. The drivers were detained by authorities for questioning as well.

Agriculture and health inspectors are constantly compelled to contend with the reality that PA merchants have no qualms about selling unsuitable, uneatable and non-kosher products for a profit. Inspectors are also compelled to address eggs which pose a health hazard, and vegetables containing alarming levels of e-coli, irrigated in sewage water, all benefits of the ongoing efforts to reach a peace agreement with our neighbors.
