Livni and Mofaz Meet

Kadima leader MK Tzipi Livni and the party’s second in command MK Shaul Mofaz met on Thursday amid reports the party is breaking apart.

YWN-Israel reported earlier on Thursday that 14 Kadima leaders are seriously contemplating breaking away, with an unspecified number heading to Likud. MK Aflalo on Wednesday night announced his decision to break away, but he did not state with certainty he was heading to Likud, indicating he might be launching a new party.

Livni and Mofaz discussed the need to prevent the breakup of the party. Livni called on Mofaz to put differences aside towards preventing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu from destroying the party.

Israel News reports that Mofaz questioned if Livni is willing to move to early leadership primaries, to which she reportedly indicated she is willing to discuss all options, but now, all efforts must be focused on preventing Likud’s breakup of the party.
