Call to Halt MDA Funding in Light of Damaging Report

The Movement for Quality Government (MQG) has turned to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Deputy Minister of Health R’ Yaakov Litzman, recommending a suspension in government funding pending the outcome of investigations into widespread corruption involving Magen David Adom Director-General Eli Bin, as was reported earlier this week by YWN-Israel.

MQG officials cite the information being released in the Yisrael HaYom investigation points to a troublesome reality in MDA, presenting allegations of bullying and other unacceptable and illegal tactics used by Bin in his running of the nation’s emergency medical service provider, and responsible for Israel’s blood bank services.

The organization points out the government funding for MDA is in essence public funds and those funds should be used properly and in accordance to the law.

  1. if there is corruption in MDA it should be dealt with by the proper leadership in the country in the proper way, just as in any other element of israeli society, but to call upon people to stop funding MDa will just hurt the 7.5 million israelis who benefit from and rely on MDa and its array of life saving services to the country. Suggestion of ceasing funding is like throwing out the baby with the bath water. who are you hurting in the end?
