Barak to High Court: Blame Rabbi Melamed

Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Thursday responded to the High Court of Justice in the petition filed by current and former hesder yeshiva students following his decision to oust the Har Bracha Hesder Yeshiva.

The students filed the petition as was reported by YWN-Israel, stipulating the minister’s decision is tantamount to collective punishment, ousting them from the framework due to statement made by the rosh yeshiva, Rabbi Eliezer Melamed.

Barak stated that the rabbi seeks to undermine the authority of military commanders and to encourage insubordination, compelling him to make the difficult decision to oust the yeshiva from the hesder framework.

In his response, Barak told the court if the students have a problem, they should blame Rabbi Melamed since his unacceptable behavior compelled the decision, stressing he continues to hold hesder yeshivot and the rabbonim in high regard, but in this case, Rabbi Melamed compelled his decision.

One Response

  1. Barak, you fool.
Do you not know what “collective punishment”
    means?
if you did, then how does your response “they should blame Rabbi Melamed” justify your witch hunt against the Har Bracha Yeshiva? You blame Rabbi Melamed, but you punish all the students of his Yeshivah – that was the petition filed against you.

Will the High Court of Justice provide justice, or will it accept Barak’s foolish response?
