Peres Calls for a Broad Coalition Against Iran

Addressing a Forum of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, President Shimon Peres stated “the problem is not the size of the bomb but the Iranian regime”. He went on to say is the problem is not who has a bomb, but who has a “hangman waiting to execute someone”, insisting Iran is the major problem facing the free world today and only a broad-based coalition can adequately address the troublesome situation.

The president believes that stiff “moral sanctions” are necessary and will be more effective than economic sanctions, reminding his audience that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has “hanged people in the streets, fired at unarmed protestors, and continues to call for the eradication of a nation and denies the Holocaust”.

“The Iranian problem does not have to be Israel’s alone.”
