Agudas Yisrael in London Sends a Strong Letter to Israeli Diplomatic Officials

Agudas Yisrael worldwide is working in earnest against the harsh decree, a NIS 5,000 daily fine against Chinuch Atzmai surrounding the ongoing controversy over segregation in a Beis Yaakov school in the Shomron community of Emanuel.

Agudah officials reject the High Court of Justice’s attempt to interfere with parental education decision, referring to Israeli authorities’ plans to file criminal charges against Emanuel parents who refuse to send their daughters to the school in question. In an emotional letter of protest sent to Ambassador Ron Prosor, the directors of Agudas Yisrael in the UK rejected the actions of Israeli government officials, explaining their close ties with Eretz Yisrael, adding that many of their children are residents of Israel today.

Rabbi Lubenstein explains that it is simply unacceptable that the children living in Israel are not free to educate their children as they see fit, in accordance to the guidelines set forth by Gedolei Yisrael Shlita. The rav continues that not safeguarding this basic right will result in residents of the community realizing they cannot move to Israel since the matter of chinuch remains of paramount importance.

The letter continues to explain that the finest legal experts around the world are being consulted ahead of the next Supreme Court hearing, pointing out that collective punishment of Chinuch Atzmai and parents is simply unprecedented.

A copy of the letter was also sent to the head of Agudas Yisrael in Israel, Deputy Education Minister R’ Meir Porush.

  1. Youre completely misleading the readership on the issues surrounding this controversy. The wrong-doing on the part of this school was to force the Sephardi students to pronounce their Hebrew in an Ashkanazik tradition! Where is the right of the Sefardim to maintain their heritage? Where is the right of those kids parents to have their kids educated the way they deserve in their community? Please present try to present your stories in a fair and accurate way reflecting both sides.

  2. The judges in the Israeli judicial system are self-elected who believe that they have the right to apply the justice and decrees as THEY see fit.

As long as Israel will not overthrow these self-appointed anti-Jewish, anti-Israel judges, your attempt to interfere will go do deaf ears and a waste of time.

  3. No 1 it is not what you are saying
And this is being orchestrated by the reform moving and new israel fund. Any and everything
    anti TRUE YIDDISKEIT

  4. This story is very misleading and very far from the Truth, #1 is just touching the tip of the issue. Unfortunally, my last post was censored by YWN.
