An IDF soldier who took part in the Gaza flotilla operation survived what is being described as an �attempted lynch� as members of the Gaza flotilla attacked commandos with batons and knives. The soldiers were only armed with handguns, expecting to board a humanitarian vessel, not a violent hostile situation.

The soldier remains in Tel Hashomer Hospital with a serious head injury, listed in serious condition.
