Israel Police Remain on Heightened Alert Status

Israel Police forces remain on heightened alert status around the country today, Tuesday, focusing on Israeli Arab areas such as Nachal I’ron and the Triangle area.

They are operating on level 3, one level below a state of emergency. Vacations and days off were canceled, and many troops were called in as the Israeli Arab sector declared a general strike following the Gaza flotilla commando operation.

Stormy protests took place on Monday evening in the Nachal I’ron area, and police and members of the press came under attack in Um el-Fahm. Firebombs were thrown at police as well and a number of police personnel and members of the media were lightly injured.

Magen David Adom, Israel’s primary emergency medical service provider is also remaining on heightened alert status.
