  1. Good! He deserves what he gets especially abandoning the Yidden in Sderot. What a selfish, egotistical traitor he is!

  2. The chutzpa and arrogance of these people is unbelievable. Any person of decency would have resigned months ago. People are blaming Peretz (and deservedly so) for his incompetence and inexperience, yet who appointed him? Does Olmert not share in that also, in addition to his many other failures? What Gaava and Kovod can do to people. These people have no business even trying to run a country.

  3. We are eagerly waiting for Olmert & Peretz to “draw conclusions.” However, a practical warning is in order – DON’T hold your breath!

  4. Big deal. He is not resigning.

None of the coalition members are not revolting. Because at this stage Netanyahu would win if the coalition forced Olmert down.

  5. When will the Israelis take a lesson from the US and other governments, and actually use experience as criteria in appointing Cabinet members. Is it such a strange concept to actually appoint someone with financial experience to a financial position, military expertise to a military position, etc?

Just because you happen to be the head of a coalition partner doesn’t make you a military expert!

  6. Just because you happen to be the head of a coalition partner doesn’t make you a military expert!

That’s true, but in a parliamentary system the leader of a party is the one who assumes the appointed position. In my humble opinion, lessons from the US are not applicable. Your suggestion would force Israel to change it’s entire form of government.

  7. That is not true, what you are saying only applies to the Prime Minister. Any other minister or cabinet member in a parliamentary system can be an outside person and not be a member of the Parliament. If I am not mistaken there were ministers in the Israeli government in the recent past who were not members of the Knesset.

  8. gemorakop, I don’t recall when that has happened (unless it was a minister without portfolio). Please enlighten me. I don’t see how that is possible in a parliamentary government, but I could be wrong.

  9. The whole report will be damaging to the states security. They are broadcasting to the world what incompetent idiots Olmert and Perez were last summer.A good part of the Christian Right still believe in the Israeli Army, this report will tear apart any sense of credibility the Israelis have in the gentile world. If Olmert wouldve stepped down like Golda Meir did after the Yom Kippur War, he wouldnt look like such an idiot in the eyes of the world. The war was Hashem sent but this man literally has blood on his hands. He is such a Baal Gaveh he doesnt realize the world is laughing at him.He is a walking Chilul Hashem.

  10. Shtender – I just looked it up, and I am correct. As a matter of fact, the current Minister of Justice, Prof. Daniel Friedmann, is NOT an Member of Knesset.

  11. ISRAEL NEVER HAD SUCH A CRAZY GOV. OLMERT ! PERTZ ! LIVNI ! etc. SOUND’S CRAZY … BUT IT’S TRUE … & IF THE ISRAELEY PEOPLE DONT WAKE SOON IT WILL BE TO LATE TO DO ANYTHING .. BEC. THE DEM’S IN THE U.S. ARE TAKEING OVER & THATS REAL BAD FOR ISRAEL !!!!!!!!!! ISRAEL’S GOOTA SHOW THEY HAVE POWER & STRONGNISS . WHAT IF R”L THE U.S.A. STOP’S SUPPORTING ISRAEL IN 2008 THAT MEANS ISRAEL HAS NO MORE ARMY OR MONEY ! THEY REALY NEED A STRONG GOV. WHAT THEY HAVE NOW IS JUST GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY.

  12. This past shabbos when Malcolm Hoemlin was speaking about the news in the Middle East. He strongly mentioned upcoming WAR in Israel this summer, we are in need of chasdei hashem.

  13. How does it happen that obviously very bright people who work their way up to the highest echelons of government, all of a sudden become a bunch of incompetent fools?

The answer: Lev Melochim VeSorim B’Yad Hashem!

  14. Notwithstanding Lev Melochim VeSorim B’Yad Hashem, it does not patter the manhigim from acting responsibly (i.e., hishtadlus).

The IDF said its hands were tied by the politicians – they were two steps away from finishing the job in Lebanon.

  15. Olmert’s decision-making irrational, irresponsible, and lacking in caution.

Olmert says “The last thing Israel needs is early elections.”

Again, read: Olmert’s decision-making irrational, irresponsible, and lacking in caution.

  16. I have a major soloution to this whole crisis. Olmert should resign, Hirsch from Neturei karta should take over then it will be sholom al yisroel. No more wars only peace with NK.

  17. 12:20PM EST: Olmert says “The last thing Israel needs is early elections.”

That really means that the last thing HE needs is early elections.

But this is all irrelevant. When will people realize that politics in general and Zionism in particular is not about doing the right thing, but rather what is politically expedient to the one in power?

Zionists, in particular, have never hesitated to send Jews to their death – why should this be any different – it was par for the course.

As for the Christians, they have their own agenda, upon which the political follies of Israeli leaders have no bearing.

  18. mikedrezz:

    Do you have a point?

Or is it some sort of vile justification to behavior that was “irrational, irresponsible, and lacking in caution”?

  19. I liked HaKatan’s response. Would someone please apply a kipah to Olmert’s head with liquid cement? Maybe some Yiras Shomayim would penetrate his skull!
