Eretz Yisroel: Hikers Fake Illness & Face Charges

rescue chopper idf.jpgTwo hikers on the trails of Nachal Sheon placed a frantic call to MDA claiming that they were feeling ill & severely dehydrated. A rescue mission was quickly put in place & a chopper which located the two hikers successfully extricated them by air. Once they were inside the helicopter, it was determined by the doctor on board that they were 100% fine. They apparently staged their illness to get a free helicopter ride out of the Nachal. Officials are not taking this matter lightly, and are filing charges against the two hikers – and would like them to pay for the entire rescue mission. (News Tip Courtesy of Hatzolah Israel)

  1. They should be charged with more than just paying wih the mission…That time they wasted, the helicopter could have been rescuing people in REAL danger…

  2. next time the rescuers will/might think twice when precious minutes can mean life and/or death ch’v. lets not let what happened to the boy who cried “wolf”. these people should definately pay the price.

  3. Unbelievable – what a chilul hashem – perhaps they wanted to increase the percentage of chilonim – 29pct currently – who view the charedim as most hated minority according to a recent poll (reported in secular media).

  4. Now lets just think of the other side of the story.
Although they were in a closed milatery zone and went in too late to be out before dark, when it gets dark the 2 boys would panic. it gets totaly dark and one cant move for fear of falling off a cliff.
So they might have been STUPID for geting in to the situation but once in what would you do???

  5. Sammygol,
Not a nice comment. You must be careful not to denigrate an entire population – it will be quite difficult to go to each and every Israeli and ask Mechilah.
Not that this particular stunt was anything but despicable, but your comment seems to deride the entire Israeli population, which may be even more despicable than what these two hikers did.
Today is Tu B’Av. The G’Matria of Chamisha Asar B’Av is 928, the same as K’Siva V’Chasima Tova. We may want to begin to think about the upcoming Yomim Norayim and be careful about saying disparaging things about other people or nations. Yom Kippur is not Mechaper on Bain Adam L’Chaveiro – you have to ask Mechila.

  6. philhau,
where in the article does it say they were chareidim??? Are you so anti-chareidi that any time you hear of someone doing something bad you assume it has to be a chareidi?

  7. I can prove they weren’t Chareidim because they would have locked them up first and then worry about pressing charges

  8. torahis1,
you’ve gone from the frying pan to the fire. Now not only do chareidim do more evil than good, but also most evil is commited by chareidim!!!

Amazing what a self hating chareidi you are!!!

BTW, on a different thread, someone mentioned the fact that the yomim noraim are coming up pretty soon. I don’t think its a good idea to be such a mikatreg on klal yisroel so close to the day we all daven to Hashem not to listen to the Kategor.

  9. SYMCL-
Maybe I would call for help, but I would gladly take the charges and pay the fine. If you do something stupid, you have to pay for it. The rules and regs are there for a reason. (to protect you.)

  10. Whether frum or not.they still have to stand before H ‘.these wrongdoers must be punished and the public warned not do silly harmful childish (yes, and deadly) pranks
