Poland Scrambles Jets, Closes Airport Amid Drone Threat

Polish and allied aircraft were deployed Saturday in a two-hour “preventive” operation over Poland’s airspace due to the threat of drone strikes from neighboring Ukraine, leading to the temporary closure of Lublin Airport; the alert followed Russian drones crossing into Poland earlier in the week, which prompted NATO jets to intervene, with Polish forces placing air defense and reconnaissance systems on high alert.
