Syracuse Students Charged with Hate Crime for Throwing Pork into Jewish Fraternity During Rosh Hashanah

Two Syracuse University students have been arrested and charged with a hate crime after allegedly throwing a bag of pork into a Jewish fraternity house during Rosh Hashanah. Police say one suspect entered Zeta Beta Tau, tossed the bag against a wall, and fled with the other in a getaway car. Both 18-year-olds now face burglary as a hate crime and criminal nuisance charges. Officials condemned the act as “abhorrent” and “not a prank,” stressing it was a targeted attack on Jewish students. The students also face possible disciplinary action from the university.
