Gerrer Rebbe Meets HaGaon HaRav Meir Tzvi Bergman After Rally, Shares Words of Unity

Following the conclusion of the mass rally, the Gerrer Rebbe paid a special visit to the home where HaGaon HaRav Meir Tzvi Bergman, was staying. The two spoke for several minutes. Rav Bergman remarked, “I believe that from this rally must come a declaration — that no one is the ‘owner’ of the Torah, and therefore, no one can be given up on.” The Gerrer Rebbe responded, “Of course! Certainly! Richtig!”

    What does that mean? i assume it means that no one can go to the army because they may eventually learn. I guess. I suppose that the theory is that the “bottom” rung of that society would serve. I think — like with other exemptions the top 10% (or whatever) gets exempt and the rest dont. Not everyone has to be in combat. There are things and jobs to do. But sitting around — while others die for you — leave their families for months on end is immoral. But so is throwing soda bottles at reporters.
