Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has launched an effort to redraw the state’s congressional maps in hopes of securing additional Republican House seats.

DeSantis said he will convene a Special Session of the state Legislature focused on redistricting to ensure the maps reflect Florida’s population “fairly and constitutionally.”

The Special Session will take place after the regular legislative session, with lawmakers expected to focus on redistricting in April.
